Get involved with the Standards Review

Standards are of high importance in the pulp, paper and converting industries as they have a huge impact on business and trade. Any interested person is encouraged to join a Standards review group to participate in the voting process for Standards currently in ballot. TAPPI membership is not required for reviewing TAPPI Standards.

Any interested person may access drafts of Standards currently in review and development for the purpose of submitting comments. You can find the list of Standards up for review in the current year by consulting our review schedule. If you would like to review the list of Standards that TAPPI has published, please check out theNumeric Index.


Get involved with the Standards Review by joining one of these groups below:

Join a SSIG- Participate in Voting and Commenting on Standards That Are Up for Review

All Standards go through a peer-reviewed voting process prior to their approval. You can participate by joining theStandard-Specific Interest Group (SSIG)for the Standard you wish to vote on. Select the subject category to get all the necessary forms. After our TAPPI Standards Department reviews the form submitted, you will be added to the SSIG(s) that you chose to join.


Standards Advisory Review Group

TheStandards Advisory Review Group (SARG)meets twice a year to act on Standards in the final stage of review. The agenda is posted 50 days in advance on our website. Any person who wants to participate may attend in person or by phone. We especially encourage any interested stakeholders* to get involved if they have particular concerns or issues regarding the methods being reviewed.

* Manufacturers of pulp, paper, packaging, or related products, consumers or converters of such products, and suppliers of equipment, supplies, or raw materials for the manufacture of such products.
